recovered over $200,000 worth of stolen property and seized over $2,448,000 worth of illegal drugs.
Over 300 individual criminal cases have been cleared. For these results the NMI Crime Stoppers Program has paid out $20,000 in rewards over the years. New marketing and outreach programs have begun in villages and schools to promote awareness and to get the message to our young people.
The NMI Crime Stoppers Board of Directors is made of men and women volunteers, whose mandate is to maintain the anonymous tips line and work with the community, media and law enforcement in getting criminals off the streets of the NMI.
Our 2010 goals include this updated website, PSA’s about Crime Stoppers on Cable TV and the launch of text tips which will allow the community to text in their tips securely.
The NMI is a member of Crime Stoppers International.
Crime Stoppers is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community representatives. All Board members donate their time and energy to supporting the local program; it is completely coordinated with unpaid volunteers. Crime Stoppers provides a method for local law enforcement to receive information on crimes. These efforts increase tips, which in turn increase arrests in our community. |
